East Hampton to Hold First-Ever Clam Shucking Contest

Pictured Above: Sag Harborites are expert clam shuckers, as evidenced by this photo from 2017’s HarborFest clam-shucking contest. But this August, East Hampton shuckers get their first chance at the spotlight.

Do you think you are the best clam shucker in East Hampton?  Here’s a chance to prove it…. The East Hampton Sportsmens Alliance will be organizing and judging a Clam Shucking contest at the Fisherman’s Fair at Ashawagh Hall in Springs on August 10. The showdown is at high noon, please bring your own knife and gloves – clams will be provided.

The winner will receive a free annual membership in the Springs Improvement Society, a customized Fair WINNER t-shirt and other memorabilia along with exclusive bragging rights!!  If there is community interest, The Springs Improvement Society will also create and donate a plaque to be prominently displayed at Ashawagh Hall to showcase the winners!!

Please come out, bring your best knife and help us make this a successful annual event!
